Lands End Labyrinth
Perched on a rocky bluff above the Pacific, this hand-built stone labyrinth offers one of the most unique foreground elements you can find with a Golden Gate Bridge backdrop anywhere in San Francisco. The circular pattern of stones sits right at the cliff's edge, so you can get low and use a wide angle lens to pull the labyrinth into the foreground while the bridge stretches across the horizon behind it. Early morning is ideal, when marine fog often rolls through the span and soft light rakes across the stones; golden hour at sunset also works well with warm tones hitting both the rocks and the bridge towers. The trail from the Merrie Way parking area is a short, mostly flat walk, though the terrain around the labyrinth itself is uneven. A wide lens in the 16-24mm range gives you the most dramatic perspective connecting foreground and background. (San Francisco, California, United States)
