Lawa'i Beach

Lawa'i Beach - Photo by tenderose.com1 / 1

Lawa'i Beach is a small, sheltered cove on Kauai's south shore, known for its calm turquoise water, rocky outcroppings, and dense tropical fringe that frames the scene on either side. The fringing reef keeps the water unusually clear, which makes it ideal for shooting waterline compositions where you can capture both the sandy bottom and the surface reflections in the same frame. Position yourself low at the water's edge to include the foreground texture of wet sand or coral-edged rocks, and use a wide angle lens to pull in the surrounding greenery. Sunset is the prime time here, with warm light hitting the water directly and the western exposure giving you clean color without obstruction. The beach is compact and easy to reach just off Lawa'i Road, with limited parking nearby, so arriving early secures you the best unobstructed spots along the shoreline.
