Lower Slaughter
Lower Slaughter is one of the most unspoiled villages in the Cotswolds, built along the gentle River Eye and lined with honey-colored limestone cottages that seem almost untouched by time. The Old Mill is your anchor shot, best framed from the riverbank with the 19th-century water wheel reflected in the calm water below. Walk the footpaths along the Eye to find quieter compositions where the low stone bridges, weeping willows, and cottage gardens frame naturally. Early morning is ideal here, before other visitors arrive, when mist often sits over the river and the warm Cotswold stone glows in soft golden light. Overcast days also work well, reducing harsh shadows on the textured stone facades. A 24-70mm lens covers most situations, from wide establishing shots of the mill to tighter frames of architectural details. The village is easily walkable and most key spots are within a short stroll of the main car park. (Lower Slaughter, Cotswolds, England)
