Lyderhorn is the westernmost of Bergen's seven mountains, rising to 396 meters and offering sweeping panoramic views across the outer fjord, open sea, and scattered islands to the west. The summit gives you a rare perspective looking away from the city toward open water, making it ideal for dramatic seascapes framed by rocky terrain and, in good conditions, distant archipelago silhouettes. Shoot toward the west at golden hour for light skimming low across the water, or come on overcast days when soft diffuse light suits the raw, windswept landscape. A wide angle lens works well for capturing the full sweep of the horizon, while a telephoto lets you compress the layers of islands in the distance. The hike is roughly 2.5 kilometers round trip depending on your route, with multiple approach options from the trailheads below. Sturdy footwear is recommended as the terrain near the summit can be uneven and exposed. (Bergen, Vestland, Norway)
