Steinsdalsfossen is a dramatic 46-metre waterfall in western Norway, famous for the path that lets you walk directly behind the main curtain of falling water. That behind-the-falls perspective is the signature shot here, where you can frame the surrounding valley and river through the white veil of cascading water, giving your images real depth and a sense of scale. A wide-angle lens works best in tight quarters, and you will want to protect your gear from mist, so bring a rain cover and a microfiber cloth for your front element. Overcast days are ideal since the soft diffused light prevents harsh shadows and brings out the greens of the surrounding forest. Spring offers the highest water volume as snowmelt peaks, adding power and drama to your shots. The site is well-maintained and accessible on foot from a nearby car park.
