Mary Booth Lookout Reserve

Tucked into a quiet residential pocket of Kirribilli, this small harbourside reserve gives you one of the closest and most intimate perspectives of the Sydney Harbour Bridge you can find outside of the bridge itself. The bridge looms large from here, making it ideal for compression shots with a wide-to-mid range lens, or tight detail work on the arch with a short telephoto. Position yourself along the low seawall to frame the bridge against the water, or pull back to include the harbour and city skyline in the same shot. After rain, the paved foreshore holds shallow puddles that produce clean reflections of the bridge structure. Sunrise brings soft directional light across the eastern span, while blue hour after sunset balances the bridge lights with the fading sky. Street parking is limited, so arriving early on weekdays gives you the space and quiet to shoot without distraction. (Kirribilli, New South Wales, Australia)
