Mesna Kultursti is a forested riverside trail in Lillehammer that follows the Mesna River through a dramatic gorge, passing churning rapids, cascading waterfalls, and the elegant stone arch of Collets bru, a bridge named after painter Fredrik Collet. The trail climbs roughly 200 meters in elevation, giving you constantly changing perspectives on the water below. Position yourself on or near the bridge for strong compositional lines, and work the riverbanks close to the rapids where the white water contrasts beautifully against dark, mossy rock. A wide-angle lens suits the gorge scenery well, while a telephoto lets you isolate the falls. Overcast days are ideal since the dense tree cover already limits light, and soft diffused conditions prevent harsh shadows and help bring out the greens and textures of the forest. The trail is well-maintained and accessible on foot from central Lillehammer. (Lillehammer, Innlandet, Norway)
