Mud Lake - Photo by Chris McConnell1 / 1

Mud Lake is one of the most biologically diverse areas in Ottawa. This 60-hectare natural habitat is classified as a Provincially Significant Wetland and an Area of Natural and Scientific Interest. The lake and its surrounding habitats, including a rich deciduous swamp forest and the Ottawa River, attract a wide variety of wildlife. This makes it a popular spot for birdwatchers, as over 200 bird species have been reported in the area. Along with its rich avian life, Mud Lake is also home to a variety of other wildlife, including turtles, frogs, foxes and even the occasional deer, offering endless opportunities for stunning wildlife photography.
