These two restored colonial landmarks, connected by a striking modern canopy, give you a range of architectural subjects both inside and out. On the exterior, position yourself across St Andrew's Road or on the Padang to capture the full neoclassical facade with its columns and symmetry; a wide angle lens in the 16-35mm range works well here. Inside, head to the atrium beneath the glass roof where the interplay of natural light and clean geometric lines rewards wide compositions looking straight up or across the walkways. The covered linkway between the two buildings is another strong subject, with its repeating arches and depth. Midday light floods the interior atria best, while the exterior reads well in the softer light of early morning before the crowds arrive. Photography is permitted in most public and gallery spaces, though some temporary exhibitions restrict it. (Singapore, Singapore)
