Newman University Church is a hidden gem on St Stephen's Green, featuring one of Dublin's most ornate and intimate interiors, with a richly decorated Byzantine-inspired nave, mosaic floors, gilded details, and warm candlelit alcoves that reward close attention. The relatively narrow space works well with a standard or short telephoto lens, around 35mm to 85mm, allowing you to compress the depth of the nave and emphasize the decorative layering of columns, arches, and side chapels. Shoot from the rear of the church looking toward the apse for a strong central symmetry, or move into the side aisles for tighter detail shots of tilework and ornamental stonework. Midday brings some natural light through the upper windows, but the interior is largely artificial, so bring a fast lens or be prepared to push your ISO. A tripod may be permitted during quiet hours, so visit on a weekday morning when foot traffic is minimal. (Dublin, Leinster, Ireland)
