Niagara Falls Viewpoint
Niagara Falls Viewpoint sits along the Canadian side of the gorge, giving you an unobstructed look at both Horseshoe Falls and American Falls from a single vantage point. The sheer scale and volume of water here makes it endlessly photogenic, with mist rising into the air and the green curve of Horseshoe Falls dominating the foreground. A wide angle lens lets you capture the full sweep of both falls together, while a telephoto lets you isolate the crashing curtain of water or the mist clouds building above the gorge. For silky smooth water, bring a neutral density filter and shoot on a tripod during the blue hour before sunrise, when crowds are thin and the light is soft and even. Midday light tends to be harsh, but overcast skies actually work well here by reducing glare off the water. The path along the railing puts you close to the action, so watch for mist on your lens.
