The Niagara SkyWheel is a giant Ferris wheel sitting right on Clifton Hill, and it doubles as both a subject and a platform for shooting the surrounding area. From the ground, a wide-angle lens lets you capture the full scale of the wheel against the sky, with the colorful lights and signage of Clifton Hill adding depth and energy to the frame. Shooting from below and angling upward emphasizes the structure's size, while pulling back gives you context with the busy street scene around it. Night is by far the best time to visit, when the wheel blazes with LED lights and the entire strip glows with neon and color. Long exposures work well here, turning the rotating gondolas into smooth light trails. Bring a tripod for sharper results in low light, and plan around dusk when there is still some blue in the sky to balance the artificial lighting. (Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada)
