Niagara Falls Waterfall
These lesser-known falls sit within Botanical Beach Provincial Park on Vancouver Island, where a powerful cascade drops roughly 50 feet into a rugged coastal gorge surrounded by old-growth forest. The falls are most dramatic after heavy rainfall, when the flow intensifies and mist fills the air, so visiting in fall or winter gives you the best volume. Shoot from the viewing area directly across the gorge for a clean, full-frame composition, or move to the side angles to include the mossy rock walls and framing trees. Overcast days are ideal here since the closed forest canopy creates harsh shadows in direct sun, and flat light brings out the rich greens and textures in the surrounding vegetation. A wide-angle lens works well for environmental shots, while a telephoto lets you isolate the falls themselves. Use a slow shutter speed to smooth the water, and bring a lens cloth as the mist will reach your glass. (Port Renfrew, British Columbia, Canada)
