Oakes Garden Theatre
Oakes Garden Theatre is a formal heritage garden sitting just steps from the brink of Niagara Falls, offering a rare chance to combine classical architecture with one of the world's most iconic natural backdrops. The semicircular colonnade, with its arched doorways and symmetrical layout, works beautifully as a foreground frame with the mist and roar of the falls rising behind it. Shoot from the upper terraces looking down through the garden's geometric paths and reflecting pools toward the falls, or position yourself low near the flowerbeds to layer color and texture in the foreground. Early morning gives you the best light and far fewer tourists, which matters here since the area gets extremely busy by mid-morning. A wide angle lens lets you capture the full sweep of the colonnade and gardens together; a short telephoto helps compress the falls into the frame behind the architecture. Admission is free and the space is fully accessible. (Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada)
