Designed by Santiago Calatrava and serving as the World Trade Center transportation hub, the Oculus is one of the most striking pieces of contemporary architecture in New York City. Outside, the sweeping white ribbed structure rises from the plaza like a pair of wings, best captured with a wide angle lens from ground level to emphasize its dramatic form against the sky. Inside, the long central hall lined with symmetrical white ribs rewards wide shots down the central axis, especially when crowds thin out early on weekday mornings. The interior skylight floods the space with natural light around midday, creating clean, even tones without harsh shadows. For exterior shots, an overcast sky keeps the white facade from blowing out, while blue hour adds a moody contrast. The building is fully accessible and free to enter, making it easy to revisit at different times. (New York City, New York, United States)
