Tucked within Prague's Josefov quarter, this hauntingly beautiful cemetery is one of the most visually dense burial sites in Europe, with thousands of weathered tombstones layered and tilted at every angle due to centuries of burials stacked up to twelve layers deep. The sheer density of leaning, moss-covered headstones creates a remarkable texture that rewards tight compositions as much as wide shots. Overcast days work best here, since soft diffused light brings out the gray tones of the stone and eliminates harsh shadows between the crowded graves. A wide-angle lens lets you capture the chaotic sprawl of markers, while a short telephoto helps isolate individual stones and Hebrew inscriptions. You must follow the designated raised walkway, so plan your angles in advance; shooting low from the path edges gives a more immersive perspective. Arrive early when the site opens to avoid crowds filling the narrow paths. (Prague, Bohemia, Czech Republic)
