One Blackfriars

One Blackfriars is a striking 163-metre residential tower on the South Bank, its curved, tapering glass facade making it one of the more sculptural additions to the London skyline. You can shoot the building itself from the north side of Blackfriars Bridge, where the tower rises dramatically behind the river, or from the Embankment opposite for a wider context shot that includes the bridge and St Paul's in the same frame. The geometric curvature of the glass responds beautifully to direct sunlight, so midday on a clear day brings out reflections and form, while blue hour gives you a luminous facade against a darkening sky. A wide-angle lens in the 16-35mm range works well for showing the full height and surroundings, though a short telephoto lets you isolate the tower's silhouette against clouds. The riverside path directly in front is publicly accessible and offers multiple vantage points without obstruction. (London, England)
