Ontario Hydro Building
This curved Brutalist office tower on the edge of Bloor and Church offers a striking subject for architectural photography, with its distinctive rounded glass facade and repeating geometric patterns drawing the eye upward. Position yourself close to the base and shoot with a wide angle lens, between 16mm and 24mm, to exaggerate the curve and let the building arc across your frame. Looking straight up from directly beneath the curved edge gives a dramatic perspective with strong converging lines. Overcast days work best here because diffused light eliminates harsh reflections on the glass and lets the building's texture and geometry read clearly; bright midday sun can blow out the facade and create distracting glare. The surrounding sidewalk gives you room to experiment with different distances and angles. Street-level framing that incorporates the base and surrounding trees adds context and scale.
