Phantom Falls

Phantom Falls, also called Fantom Falls, is a tucked away waterfall in Upper Musquodoboit reached via a trailhead just off Highway 336. The falls flow over a series of rock ledges, creating multiple tiers and smaller cascades within a quiet forest setting. It is a more low key spot that feels a bit removed, with a short hike required to get in, which helps keep it less crowded. Once there, you can move around the base and along the edges to find different angles, from wider views of the full falls to closer shots of the water moving through the rock. The surrounding trees and mossy surfaces add texture and depth, especially in softer light. Overcast conditions work best for even exposure, and using a slower shutter speed helps bring out the flow of the water. (Upper Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia, Canada)
