Standing at 2,970 meters in the Bernese Oberland, the Schilthorn summit gives you an unobstructed 360-degree panorama that includes the iconic trio of Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau lined up to the east, making it one of the most dramatic alpine backdrops in Europe. The revolving Piz Gloria restaurant provides a useful elevated platform, but step outside onto the viewing terraces for clean shots without glass distortion. Early morning arrivals reward you with crisp visibility and alpenglow catching the north faces of the Jungfrau massif; midday can bring haze so aim for the first cable car up. A wide-angle lens handles the sweeping panorama well, while a telephoto lets you compress the distant peaks. Snow cover from autumn through spring adds depth and contrast to the foreground. The cable car from Mürren is the only access, so check the operating schedule before planning your visit. (Lauterbrunnen, Bernese Oberland, Switzerland)
