Seljalandsfoss
Seljalandsfoss is one of Iceland's most distinctive waterfalls, made famous by the path that takes you completely behind the curtain of falling water, giving you a framing opportunity you rarely find anywhere else. Shooting from inside the cave lets you use the waterfall itself as a natural frame around the landscape beyond, and a wide angle lens in the 16-24mm range works best for capturing the full arc of the falls with the green valley or dramatic sky behind it. The exterior view also rewards experimentation, especially shooting from a low angle on the grass to include wildflowers or reflective pools in the foreground. The golden hours around sunset and sunrise give you warm, soft light, and the falls face roughly west so late evening light is particularly flattering. Be aware that the mist will soak your lens quickly, so keep a cloth handy, and the path behind the falls closes in winter due to ice. (Rangárþing eystra, South Iceland, Iceland)
