Skodje Bridges are a pair of historic stone arch bridges from the early 1920s, together forming the longest masonry arch road bridge in Norway, now reserved for pedestrians after a modern replacement was built nearby. The graceful curves of the arches reflect beautifully in the calm water below, and the weathered stone texture adds character that newer concrete structures simply cannot match. Shoot from the shoreline or water's edge to frame the full span of both arches with their reflections, or walk onto the bridge itself and use the low stone railings and arch lines as foreground interest leading toward the fjord and surrounding hills. Overcast days soften the light evenly across the stone, which works especially well here; golden hour adds warmth to the pale masonry and creates richer reflections. A wide to mid-range lens covers most compositions well. The pedestrian-only status means you can set up and shoot without worrying about traffic. (Straumen, Møre og Romsdal, Norway)
