Perched high above one of Norway's most dramatic fjords, this viewpoint gives you a sweeping look down at the winding blue-green water cutting between steep, snow-capped walls. The sheer scale of the scene rewards wide-angle lenses, but a short telephoto helps compress the layers of mountains and pick out the famous waterfalls cascading down the cliff faces. Shoot from the railing to frame the fjord bending out of sight, or step back to include the foreground vegetation for added depth. Overcast days actually work beautifully here, softening the contrast and adding moody atmosphere to the misty peaks. Morning light catches the water best before haze builds up. The viewpoint is roadside and easy to reach, but arrives early in summer as tour buses fill the small parking area quickly. A polarizing filter is worth having to cut glare off the water below.
