St Peter Mancroft
St Peter Mancroft rises dramatically above the Norwich Market, making it one of the most photogenic medieval churches in England. The flint-and-limestone flushwork facade catches light beautifully, and the west tower makes a strong vertical anchor for compositions. Shoot from the market itself to include the colorful striped stalls in the foreground, creating a layered scene that contrasts the medieval with the everyday. A wide-angle lens works well here to capture the full height of the tower without distorting too much; stepping back toward the market centre gives you the most balanced framing. Overcast days are surprisingly flattering, softening harsh shadows on the flint surfaces and revealing the texture of the stonework. Early morning on weekdays gives you the market without crowds, and the low-angled light from the southeast catches the tower face well in winter months. (Norwich, England, United Kingdom)
