Lake Bondhus is a strikingly still glacial lake in Folgefonna National Park, with the Bondhus glacier spilling down the mountain directly above the water, creating one of the most dramatic foreground-to-background compositions in western Norway. The classic shot frames the glacier reflected in the lake's surface, so calm mornings are your best friend here, as wind will break up the mirror effect quickly. Overcast days actually work well by softening the contrast between the bright ice and dark rock, though a partly cloudy midday can produce moody, shifting light across the valley walls. A wide-angle lens lets you capture the full sweep from the lake's edge to the glacier above. The trail from the Sundal trailhead is well-maintained and roughly two kilometers each way, manageable for most photographers with gear. Arrive early to avoid other visitors and catch the stillest water conditions. (Kvinnherad, Vestland, Norway)
