Furebergsfossen is a dramatic waterfall that drops directly into the Maurangerfjord along route 551, giving you one of the rare opportunities to photograph a waterfall meeting a fjord in a single frame. You can get remarkably close since the water flows right under the roadside, allowing for wide-angle shots that include the cascading upper section, the misty free fall, and the fjord stretching behind. A 16-35mm lens works well here to capture the full scene without losing the surrounding mountain context. Position yourself on the road or scramble slightly down toward the water's edge for a low angle that emphasizes the scale of the drop. Overcast days are ideal as the soft, diffused light eliminates harsh shadows in the gorge and brings out the deep greens of the surrounding rock and moss. Early morning also works well before tourist traffic picks up on the road. (Ænes, Vestland, Norway)
