Sunnfjord Museum is an open-air collection of over 25 historic timber buildings spread across a green hillside in Førde, giving you a rare chance to photograph centuries-old Norwegian farmhouses, storehouses, and working structures in a natural landscape setting. The wooden architecture has wonderful texture and earthy tones, so look for detail shots of weathered log joints and carved doorframes alongside wider compositions that layer buildings against the surrounding hills. Overcast days work exceptionally well here, as the soft diffused light brings out the rich colors of the aged timber without harsh shadows cutting across the facades. A mid-range zoom lens handles both intimate details and broader scene-setting shots comfortably. Visit in late spring or early autumn when the surrounding vegetation adds color without obscuring the structures; the museum grounds are walkable and relatively flat, making it easy to circle each building and find your best angle.
