Suzzallo Library
Suzzallo Library is the University of Washington's crown jewel, a stunning Collegiate Gothic building whose soaring Reading Room interior rivals the grandeur of any cathedral in the world. The Reading Room is the main draw, with its ribbed vaulted ceilings stretching nearly 65 feet high, rows of long oak tables, and tall arched stained glass windows that flood the space with warm, diffused light. Shoot from the far end of the room to use the tables and ceiling arches as converging leading lines, or get low to emphasize the scale of the space. A wide angle lens in the 16 to 24mm range works best inside, while a tilt-shift can help control distortion if you have one. Midday light filtering through the stained glass produces beautiful color on overcast days. The library is open to the public, though quiet behavior is expected and a tripod may draw attention from staff. (Seattle, Washington, United States)
