Tanah Lot is one of Bali's most iconic sea temples, perched on a dramatic offshore rock formation that gets surrounded by water at high tide, creating a natural frame that photographers have chased for decades. The classic shot puts the temple silhouetted against a colorful sky, best achieved at sunset when the light drops behind the Indian Ocean and the temple falls into shadow with warm tones filling the background. Position yourself on the rocks to the left or right of the main viewing area to avoid crowds in your frame, and a wide angle lens helps capture the full sweep of the coastline. Arrive at least an hour before sunset to scout the shoreline and claim your spot, as the area fills quickly. Low tide opens up more foreground options with exposed rock textures and tide pools to work into your composition. (Tabanan, Bali, Indonesia)
