Trollfoss
Trollfoss is a dramatic 12-meter waterfall where the river Dalelva forces itself through a tight canyon in a single powerful drop, creating an intense scene of compressed water and sculpted rock. You can shoot from the canyon rim looking down for a sense of scale, or carefully descend to get closer to the water level where the spray and confined walls make for a far more immersive composition. A wide-angle lens works well here for capturing the full height of the drop alongside the narrow canyon walls, while a longer exposure softens the churning water into silky contrast against the dark, wet rock. Overcast days are ideal since the canyon shade already makes harsh sunlight difficult to manage. Wear waterproof footwear because the descent is steep, the ground is slippery, and wet feet are almost certain. (Steinsholt, Telemark, Norway)
