Perched on a rocky promontory above the Ligurian Sea, Vernazza is arguably the most photogenic of the Cinque Terre villages, with its tight cluster of pastel-colored houses, medieval tower, and small harbor all visible from a single elevated vantage point. The classic shot is taken from the trail heading toward Corniglia to the south, where you get the full panorama of the village, the castle, and the church dome stacked above the waterfront. A wide to standard zoom in the 24-50mm range works well for this composition. Golden hour in the morning brings warm side light across the facades, while late afternoon wraps the whole scene in a warm glow before the light drops behind the hills. The trail viewpoint requires a short uphill walk from the village center, but it is well-worn and easy to find; arrive early to avoid other hikers in your frame. (Vernazza, Liguria, Italy)
