View over Vernazza - Photo by Sam van Bussel1 / 1

Perched high above one of Cinque Terre's most iconic villages, this hillside viewpoint gives you a sweeping look down over Vernazza's clustered pastel buildings, the medieval tower, the church cupola, and the small natural harbor opening into the Ligurian Sea. The classic composition frames the entire village in a single shot, with the rocky coastline and deep blue water filling the lower third. A telephoto lens in the 70-200mm range lets you compress the layers of colorful facades and pull the sea closer into the frame, while a wider lens captures more of the terraced hillsides surrounding the village. Golden hour in the morning brings warm directional light that wraps across the building faces, and the soft glow just after sunrise avoids harsh shadows in the narrow streets below. The trail from the village center involves a steady uphill climb of around ten to fifteen minutes, so wear comfortable shoes and arrive early to avoid crowds. (Vernazza, Liguria, Italy)
