Vernazza

Vernazza - Photo by David Lally1 / 1

Vernazza is one of the 5 centuries-old villages that make up the Cinque Terre, on northwest Italy’s Ligurian coast. Colorful houses surround its small marina. Its tightly clustered, pastel-colored buildings, arched harbor, and stone tower create a timeless composition that is especially striking during golden hour or from the hiking trails that approach the village from above. Photographers can capture the vibrant rooftops, small fishing boats, and waves crashing against the rocky shoreline from multiple vantage points, including the famous view along the Sentiero Azzurro trail. Narrow alleys, seaside piazzas, and waterfront reflections add depth and variety to compositions. Vernazza is easily accessible by train and is a must-visit for capturing the charm of coastal Italy.
