View of National Gallery of Canada - Photo by @ns.photos251 / 1

Perched on a ridge overlooking the Ottawa River, the National Gallery of Canada is one of the most architecturally striking buildings in the country, designed by Moshe Safdie with a soaring glass rotunda that catches light beautifully at different times of day. From the exterior esplanade, you can frame the geometric lattice of the rotunda against the sky, with the historic Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica visible just behind it for a compelling contrast of old and new. Evening is the standout time to visit, when interior lighting makes the glass structure glow from within, creating a warm and dramatic effect against a deep blue dusk sky. A wide-angle lens works well here to capture the full scale of the facade, and positioning yourself slightly to the left lets you bring both the rotunda and the cathedral spires into the same frame. Street parking and pathways make access straightforward. (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada)
