Aarburg Castle & Old Town
Aarburg is a historic Swiss town set along the Aare River, known for its compact old town and dramatic hilltop castle. The town is overlooked by a narrow, elongated rock ridge on which Aarburg Castle stands prominently. Originally built in the early 12th century, the castle later became a major fortification under Bernese control and remains one of the region’s most striking landmarks. From along the river or nearby bridges, photographers can capture the contrast between the flowing Aare, the clustered rooftops below, and the fortified structure rising above. Elevated viewpoints and riverside paths offer multiple angles, especially effective in soft morning or evening light. (Aarburg, Switzerland)
