Ásmundarsafn is the former home, studio, and now museum of Icelandic sculptor Ásmundur Sveinsson, and the building itself is as photogenic as the artwork inside. The domed, whitewashed structure draws clear inspiration from Mediterranean and North African architecture, making it look strikingly out of place against Reykjavik's Nordic sky in the best possible way. The outdoor sculpture garden surrounding the building gives you plenty to work with: large abstract figures scattered across an open lawn that pair well with the dome as a backdrop. Shoot from low angles to make the sculptures feel monumental, or step back with a wider lens to capture the full geometry of the building. Overcast days are ideal here since Iceland's flat diffused light eliminates harsh shadows and brings out the texture of both the concrete sculptures and the white walls. The garden is freely accessible year-round, even when the museum is closed. (Reykjavik, Capital Region, Iceland)
