Lantern
This small yellow lighthouse sits at the tip of the Grandagarður pier in Reykjavík's Old Harbour, offering a compact but rewarding shoot with the city skyline, colorful fishing boats, and open water all within easy reach. Position yourself low near the water's edge to exaggerate the lighthouse's presence against the sky, or step back along the pier to use it as a focal point with the harbor stretching behind. A wide angle lens works well for environmental shots that include the boats and skyline together, while a short telephoto lets you isolate the warm yellow structure against dramatic clouds or the mountains beyond. Golden hour light is exceptional here, especially in the long summer evenings when the sun stays low for extended periods.
