Landakotskirkja
Landakotskirkja is Iceland's only Catholic cathedral, a striking concrete Gothic Revival structure that stands out against Reykjavik's low-rise cityscape. The clean geometric lines of the facade, the tall central tower, and the pale stone exterior all catch light beautifully, especially in the soft golden hours that stretch long during Icelandic summers. Shooting from directly across the street gives you a strong symmetrical composition, while moving to either side lets you work the tower and nave together at an angle. A wide to standard focal length works well here, somewhere in the 24-50mm range, letting you capture the full height without excessive distortion. The surrounding residential streets are quiet and uncluttered, making it easy to find clean foreground space. Overcast days diffuse the light evenly across the facade, which suits the building's pale tones particularly well. (Reykjavik, Capital Region, Iceland)
