Avenue of the Palms
This tree-lined promenade on Treasure Island cuts straight toward one of the most dramatic backdrops in the Bay Area, with the Bay Bridge spanning left to right and the San Francisco skyline rising behind it. The rows of tall palms create strong natural leading lines that draw the eye directly toward the bridge and city, making a wide or standard zoom lens ideal for compressing that layered depth. Shoot from low and centered to maximize the symmetry of the palms, or step to one side to add dimension. Golden hour before sunset bathes the scene in warm light that catches the palm trunks beautifully, while blue hour and after dark let you capture the bridge and skyline fully lit against a deep sky. Parking is available on the island and the promenade is flat and easy to walk. A 24-70mm range covers most compositions well here.
