Clipper Cove Beach

Clipper Cove Beach is a sheltered sandy cove on the north side of Yerba Buena Island, offering one of the most intimate and unobstructed views of the Bay Bridge you will find anywhere in the San Francisco Bay. Unlike the crowded Embarcadero waterfront, this spot puts you close to the water with a quiet foreground of calm bay and soft sand, letting you frame the bridge's western span rising dramatically overhead. Shoot from the waterline for low-angle compositions that include reflections when the water is still, or walk the shoreline to adjust how much of the bridge you include against the sky. Blue hour and sunrise are especially rewarding here, with the bridge lights still glowing against a warming sky. A wide to mid-range zoom works well, and the cove is accessible via the Bay Bridge's Yerba Buena Island exit. (San Francisco, California, United States)
