Perched on the south slope of Mount Royal, this wide stone terrace gives you one of the most iconic elevated views of the Montreal skyline, with the downtown towers stretching across your frame and the St. Lawrence River visible in the distance on clear days. The broad semicircular layout lets you shift position easily, so experiment with a wide angle to capture the full panoramic sweep or compress the skyline with a short telephoto. Sunset is the most rewarding time to visit, as the warm light hits the buildings directly before transitioning into blue hour, when the city lights create a strong contrast against the fading sky. The Leonard Cohen mural on the side of a downtown building is visible from here and makes a great focal point for tighter compositions. The terrace is accessible by car, taxi, or a uphill walk from the Peel metro station. (Montreal, Quebec, Canada)
