Berggasthaus Aescher-Wildkirchli
Berggasthaus Aescher-Wildkirchli is a unique guest house that was built directly into the side of the mountain. Its precarious perch makes it difficult to get to, and it’s only accessible after a steep hike along a mountain path or via cable car (Wasserauen-Ebenalp cable car). But the views are definitely worth the effort! The guesthouse (which no longer accepts guests and is now only a restaurant) is also just a short distance down the path from the Wildkirchli caves, which were inhabited by Neanderthals as far back as 40,000 years ago. The caves later became the site of a hermitage. (Wasserauen, Switzerland)
