Château Gohier
Château Gohier is a ruined stone manor tucked inside Cap-Saint-Jacques Nature Park, its unfinished turrets and weathered walls giving it the atmosphere of a forgotten European castle hidden in the Quebec wilderness. The structure photographs beautifully from multiple angles; get close to work the textured stonework and arched openings as graphic frames, or step back to capture the full facade with the surrounding trees providing natural framing. Overcast days are ideal here, as soft diffused light brings out the detail in the grey stone without harsh shadows, though golden hour in autumn is exceptional when the foliage wraps the ruins in warm color. A wide-to-standard zoom in the 24-70mm range handles most compositions well. The park has free parking and the château is a short walk from the lot, making it an easy half-day shoot combined with the park's waterfront nearby. (Montreal, Quebec, Canada)
