Crissy Field East Beach
Crissy Field East Beach is a wide, open stretch of sand along San Francisco Bay that puts the Golden Gate Bridge directly in your frame, close enough to feel dramatic but far enough to capture the full span. Walk toward the water's edge and shoot westward to place the bridge over the bay, or use the shoreline itself as a leading line curving toward the structure. Sunset is the prime time here, with the sun dropping behind or just beside the bridge and painting the sky in warm oranges and pinks that reflect off the wet sand at low tide. A wide angle lens works well for expansive compositions, while a short telephoto lets you compress the bridge against the hills of Marin. The beach is flat and easy to walk, parking is available nearby, and you can move freely to adjust your framing. (San Francisco, California, United States)
