Gudvangen sits at the innermost tip of Nærøyfjord, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where sheer cliff walls rise dramatically on both sides and the narrow fjord stretches out ahead of you. The combination of water, mountains, and mist makes this one of the most striking fjord compositions in Norway. From the small waterfront area, you can shoot directly down the fjord with the cliffs framing both edges of the frame, creating a natural tunnel effect that draws the eye deep into the scene. A wide-angle lens works well here to capture the full scale of the surroundings. Overcast days are often better than bright sunshine, as the soft diffused light brings out the greens and grays without harsh shadows on the cliff faces. Morning is ideal when mist lingers over the water and tourist boats have not yet arrived. Parking is available nearby and the waterfront is easy to reach on foot. (Gudvangen, Vestland, Norway)
