Rjoandefossen is a dramatic triple-tiered waterfall dropping 241 meters down a sheer rock face in the Flåm valley, making it one of the more impressive roadside falls in western Norway. The sheer height and multiple distinct drops give you a lot to work with compositionally; try a wide angle to capture all three tiers in a single frame, or zoom in on individual cascades to emphasize the texture and force of the water. Overcast days are ideal here, as the soft diffused light prevents harsh shadows on the cliff face and keeps detail in both the white water and the dark rock. A polarizing filter helps cut glare and brings out the green of the surrounding vegetation. The falls are easy to reach on foot along Rallarvegen, the famous cycle route that runs through Flåmsdalen, and you can get close enough to feel the spray. (Flåm, Vestland, Norway)
