Holyrood Park
Holyrood Park places you at the foot of Arthur's Seat, an ancient volcanic plug that rises dramatically from the heart of Edinburgh, offering some of the most iconic elevated views of the city in any direction. From the summit, you get sweeping panoramas of the Old Town, Edinburgh Castle, the Firth of Forth, and on clear days, the hills of Fife beyond. The ruined silhouette of St Anthony's Chapel, perched on a lower ridge, makes for a compelling foreground element when shot against moody skies. Golden hour light, especially at sunrise, catches the basalt crags beautifully and bathes the city in warm tones. The climb to the top takes around 45 minutes on well-maintained paths and requires no special equipment. A wide-angle lens suits the panoramic views, while a short telephoto helps compress the cityscape below. (Edinburgh, Scotland)
