Jettegrytene is a striking geological site in southern Norway where centuries of glacial meltwater have carved deep cylindrical potholes, called giant's kettles, directly into the smooth bedrock alongside a series of rushing waterfalls. The sculpted rock forms and swirling water create an intimate, textured scene that rewards wide-angle shooting close to the ground, where you can layer the circular potholes in the foreground against the cascading falls behind. Overcast days are ideal here, softening the light and eliminating harsh shadows inside the deep potholes while keeping detail in both the bright water and dark rock. A polarizing filter helps cut reflections and brings out the richness of the wet stone. Note that the road directly to the site is closed, so plan for a walk in from the parking area; sturdy footwear is recommended as the wet bedrock can be slippery. (Treungen, Nissedal, Norway)
