Lone Tree

This solitary birch tree perched on a small rocky island in Lake Nisser is one of those rare subjects that feels almost composed by nature itself. The tree sits surrounded by calm water with the ridgeline of Mt. Hægefjell rising in the background, giving you a clean, layered scene that works beautifully as a wide reflection shot when the lake is still. Early morning is ideal, when mist often sits on the water and the light is soft and directional; golden hour in either direction rewards patience here. A wide angle lens lets you include the full reflection and surrounding landscape, while a short telephoto compresses the mountain behind the tree for a more dramatic effect.
