This hidden waterfall sits about a kilometre into the forest from the road, reached by following a small creek upstream through dense woodland. The falls tumble in a intimate, layered cascade that rewards close compositions as well as wider shots that include the surrounding mossy rocks and trees. A wide-angle lens works well for capturing the full scene, while a longer exposure softens the water into silky threads against the dark rock. Overcast days are ideal here since the forest canopy and muted light eliminate harsh shadows and bring out the rich greens and textures. You can wade into the creek for a low, central angle looking straight up at the falls, or work the banks for a three-quarter perspective that shows the layers of the cascade. Wear waterproof boots as the ground stays wet and the rocks are slippery. (Tjoåne, Telemark, Norway)
